NYU Langone Health receives double platinum LEED certification for The Helen L. and Martin S. Kimmel Pavilion and its new Science Building.

The Kimmel Pavilion, an 830,000-square-foot inpatient tower, is the first hospital in New York City to provide private rooms for all patients and one of only ten LEED platinum hospitals worldwide.

The Kimmel Pavilion and Science Building are key components of the ten-year campus transformation initiative. The campus transformation greatly enhanced the sustainability and resilience of the campus through the development of a new central utility plant and 7.5-megawatt cogeneration facility and the implementation of a campus wide flood barrier system. The campus received platinum certification from USGBC's new PEER certification program, which recognizes efficiency, resiliency, and reliability. The NYU Langone campus is the first in the world to receive the highest level of certification under PEER.
