扩建工程将为项目带来15,400平方英尺的额外收藏空间，其中亦将设置访问学者研究区、艺术品准备室、注册办公室、世界级银质藏品保险室、及管理临时展厅的陈列品出入控制室。
Ennead于2004年接手了这个由著名建筑大师约瑟夫·费尔德兰德于1932年完成、新乔治亚式建筑的三个阶段式的扩建、翻修和维护项目。
该建筑同时也是1967年间纽约著名城市地标之一。
詹姆斯·G·迪南和伊丽莎白·R·米勒美术馆将设于现有建筑东侧，并重新设计包括第五大道远景露台及室内公共图书馆在内的其他功能设施。
由于多数为古装收集品，戏剧藏品均出展于可移动陈列柜中，并另有专业的服装维护区域。
