The AIA Tri-State Design Awards have awarded The Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact at the University of Oregon with a Merit Award in the Architecture category.

The project unites form with function to inspire the next generation of innovators by bringing together engineering, applied sciences, business innovation, and culture within a light-filled, highly flexible space designed to break down boundaries and adapt to new directions in research. The AIA Tri-State Design Award jury said, "The project is beautifully executed in detail. We really love the quilted glass façade and the way it creates natural interior light. We really appreciate all of the innovation around green technology and the way the public spaces create an inviting respite from the focused lab environment throughout the project.”

The Tri-State Design Awards program celebrates regional excellence in design and impact on the built environment. The award program is held biennially as part of the 2021 AIA Tri-State Conference hosted by three state chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA): AIA New Jersey, AIA New York State, and AIA Pennsylvania.
