Ennead Partner, Peter Schubert, FAIA, authored an article "Burbs to boroughs: how urbanism can keep South Florida livable" published in Miami Today, which discusses how South Florida can manage growth without sacrificing the lifestyle that attracted people to the area in the first place.
He details the benefits of integrating more urban pockets into the region. He explains, “Cities are equally about what happens in between the buildings, and how they relate to each other and to civic experience. The growth of resort-esque developments with abundant private amenities addresses a demand but doesn’t contribute to the urban energy needed to create a sense of place and belonging. Only good urbanism can accomplish that.”
