Sylvia H. Rambo Courthouse

Ennead is excited for the first day of occupancy at the Sylvia H. Rambo Courthouse. The courthouse is named in honor of trailblazing Judge Sylvia Rambo, the first woman chief public defender, the first woman judge in Cumberland County, the first woman federal judge for Pennsylvania’s middle district, and the first chief justice for Pennsylvania’s middle district.

The design of the courthouse was inspired by Harrisburg’s civic history, regional landscape, and evolving urban fabric. The new United States Federal Courthouse establishes a contemporary civic landmark and gateway that embodies the vital intersection between the Federal judiciary and the community it serves. The rhythm and horizontality of the building’s podium elements subtly reference the numerous bridge structures which span the Susquehanna.
